Reading, phonics and spelling at Chaddlewood

Phonics, spelling and reading:
In April 2018 we are introducing the RWInc ( Read, Write Inc) approach across Foundation and Years 1 and 2. It is also being used to support Year 3 and 4 children. This is a synthetic phonics method of teaching the letter sounds in a way that is fun and multi-sensory, enabling children to become fluent readers.
Watch this video to find out why children love learning to read, write and spell using Read Write Inc. Phonics, how Read Write Inc. Phonics works in school, and how parents can help at home.

 Reading:
In September 2016 we introduced the Accelerated Reading Scheme to Years 2-6. Details of how this scheme works and how it supports your child's reading skills and engagement is in the parent booklet below. As a school we felt that this scheme really supports children in gaining a passion for reading and engaged them in a very positive way.
