“I am the Chair of the Governing Body and I have been a governor for over 15 years, joining the governing body when my children attended the school. A children’s nurse by profession, working at Derriford Hospital, I feel that I am able to use this insight within my role as SEN Governor. The job also allows me to be able to support a great many of school events and activities, I may be frequently found at the carol service and summer activity week.”

“My husband and I have two daughters, one in year 5 and the other in year 2. As a family we live close to the school and understand that it plays a big part in the community.

I chose to put myself forward as a Governor because I wanted to know more about the school itself and how it was run. Also I wanted to be able to have an input into decisions that are being made that ultimately affect my children on a day to day basis. I am interested in the short and long term aims of the school and also the day to day management and progress that makes against changing government targets and environments.

When I first joined as one of Chaddlewood School Parent Governors I worked for the Skills Funding Agency (a Government funding body for post 16 education). Having worked in the Education sector and specifically with knowledge around funding models and regulations I felt I could bring expertise to the governing body. I have recently moved to work at Cornwall College as a Project manager for an European Social Fund (ESF) contract supporting 16-18 year olds to overcome barriers to training.

I have a Degree in Business and Finance, PRINCE 2 project management and L4 Management qualifications. I have extensive knowledge of financial planning and forecasting, Ofsted, data analysis, risk assessment and project management.

I have enjoyed my time as governor so far and look forward to the challenges ahead. I am in the playground several times a week on the school run, and would be more than happy to listen to any parent views on the school that can feed into the Governing body.

“Born and educated in Plymouth, I was raised in a military family here in Plympton. I subsequently married a Submarine Engineer, with whom I have two children. I have been teaching at Chaddlewood Primary School since 2012. This is the second school in the Plympton area that I have had the privilege to work in. Prior to teaching, I spent 12 years working for the Ministry of Defence as a Personnel Manager, at Boscombe Down with the RAF and HMNB Devonport, where I specialized in recruitment. The transition to Education was a good move as I thoroughly enjoy working with children, parents and my colleagues. I care very much about the ongoing progress of Chaddlewood Primary and my role as a Governor allows me to support the future development of this fantastic school.”
