Chaddlewood Primary School

EYFS

Welcome to our Foundation Classes!   We are energetic and enthusiastic learners who enjoy learning through play; exploring, investigating, and making links in a motivating and flexible environment, where teachers and support staff assess through ongoing observations. We enjoy playing and exploring our amazing outdoor space in all weathers. We love to learn through stories and books and are always exploring new and exciting texts.  We never give up and know that we can achieve anything!

We will be using Tapestry to keep you up to date with all the fun we are having and all of our learning! Tapestry offers direct access for relatives, so that you are kept informed of activities and achievements your child has been involved in during the school day. Tapestry also allows relatives to add photographs and videos of your own as well as post comments.

Please feel free to get in contact with your child's class teacher if you require any further information or support.

Oracy

Our aim at Chaddlewood Primary School is to develop a positive attitude towards speaking and listening. Oracy is the ability to express yourself clearly and communicate with others effectively through spoken language. It is the strategy for learning to talk and learning through talk.

RWI

At Chaddlewood Primary School, we follow a programme called ‘Read Write Inc’. We encourage the children to read widely and often, with a minimum of reading three times a week at home. Reading is taught daily through 45-minute Phonics sessions. During these sessions, your child will learn to recognise new sounds, develop the skills to segment and blend sounds in words to read and write, as well as improve their comprehension skills.

All home reading books are matched directly to the sounds your child is learning in Phonics and are fully decodable so that they can improve their reading fluency. Encourage children to read by saying, Fred Talk, read the word’.
